Would you like that rectally sir?

Well needless to say theres been more rescueing of sheep and alot of them dying. Alot we have saved though, Heather and I have been going round medicating them and sitting them up again as they lie themselves down and kink their necks back willing themselves to die (really suicidal animal really). They just give up and dont fight to survive.
Its very useful as when the medication out of the flying doctors kit goes out of date you dont have to return it so heather keeps it for the animals.. so on one of our rounds Heather grabbed a pack of panadol..Though amusingly when she opened the pack they were this funny shape and when Heather read the pack it said.. to be inserted rectally!!! Heather being Heather looked surprised but took it in her stride and shoves it up their arses!! I didnt offer to help with this one!! (would have been fine if I had surgical gloves on but my finger nails are dirty enough...). but it was really funny, as some of these sheep who were atr deaths door, at the mention of a rectal tablet leapt up and ran away!!
Heather has been cutting up the dead sheep for the dogs so they are enjoying all this meat, as are the cats, the animals wait aroud for them to die.. she is amazing at skinning them which what seems like a quick cut and a couple of flicks.. when i asked how she got to be so quick at it, she responded that well she'd been doing it since the age of 7!! oh so thats how you get to be so good at it..
so ahve been asking a few questions lately..
why cant we eat some of these sheep dropping dead all around us?
Apparently because they havent been bled, when an anmal is killed the throat is slit so the blood runs out, otherwise it clogs up the arrteries and the meat goes off really quickly..
and I was talking about how wild pigs are killed by hunters running after them with knives to Rob anbd he commented that didnt the meat taste tought because of the adrenalin? well yes apparently so they send it to germany for the germans to eat!! (true story!)
But the best you can hope for if your a sheep (or in fact you lay injured out in this wilderness) is that you die before the flies lay egss on you and the maggotts start eating your flesh, the crows peck your eyes out, pigs, cats and wedgetail eagles start chomping at your flesh... it is not a nice sight to see.. and a gun needs to be used quickly to put it out of its misery.
Snowdrop and Rickets are doing really well, they have tripled in weight already and now we've forced Snow to accept Rcikets shes doing fine. Heather strapped up one of Rickets legs today, the other will get done tomorrow. It was hard holding this crying, wriggling tiny baby thing while its leg was put in the cast.. but otherwise she'll have dodgy legs for life.. and rely on crawling around on her knees..
I had some sleepless nights checking up on them the first couple of nights, and I was such a wuss about goiing outside at night... I thought every stick was a snake!! But after all this rain the mozzies were bad, one night I must have got 100 or so... itchy!!!!
We couldnt get to the pub on Friday because of the floods, all the roads have been closed and it would have been too dangerous to even contemplate leaving the farm (which is 21ms to the nearest main (dirt) road.
Good job I hadnt booked my bus as I wouldnt have been able to leave!!
Terry rang into the radio about our rainfall! we had over 6 inches which is pretty amazing!! people here go outside every 10 mins to check their rainfall!! (they all have measuring devices!!) and all ring in the radio to brag about how much they have had!!
