The other day I caught myself clapping my hands together and saying aloud "So who's it going to be today?". No I've not turned into a serial killer (I'm not the Shortland street killer!!).. I have however clearly gone mad! I was talking to my stuff (obviously!?). After I made this rule the other week about throwing one thing out each day till I left so that it would all fit into my backpack I have been on a mission. At first it was easy.. no I dont need 3 sets of thermals, gloves, hats and scarves for Australia.. however its got harder and harder. Yesterday I managed my kathmandu badge and today a pair of tweezers.. hmnn yeah so thats going to create lots of space in the backpack?!! In case your worrying yourself over the safety of my eyebrows, dont panic I had somehow managed to aquire 3 pairs of tweezers..
I babysat for Claire for the last time Saturday night. I'm the only babysitter they have ever had for their 3 year old so they are a bit worried about how they are going to have a life again now I am leaving.. even if I did ruin their carpet.. (I didnt mean to - it was only water - however it managed to leave a huge stain on their cream carpet..) oops!
It was my last day at Tasman Street on Friday so I made some fudge cake and took in for the kids who really liked it even though it was really sticky and gloopy! They made me a card with all their photos on it, and took lots of photos of me with the kids which I have laminated for my wall, the kids made me a cake and Sue gave me chocolate and it was so emotional saying goodbye at the end of the day.. Maya, Holden, Michael and Jack in particular gave me these huge hugs goodbye (Im such a sucker for hugs!). It was really sad realising I wouldnt ever see them again. I have after all seen these kids growing up for 2 years.. and when your only 2 or 2 and a half thats a long time.. I've seen them roll over for the first time, crawl, learn to walk.. graduate from sitting in a high chair to being obne of the big kids around the table..
It was my last night at The Lighthouse on Monday, Its funny as it used to be my favourite thing of the week, then I dont know what happened, was it me or the centre that changed? A bit of both I think.. I think when I loved it, it was filling a void in my life but I dont think I need that anymore.. I still love the idea of it all. I love all that "Spriritual stuff"! (tarot, clarivoyancy, reiki, chakra healing, past life regression... etc etc the list is never ending)! and stil enjoy going I guess my Tuesday night group does it all better though..
However, I decided to go to the healing chairs since it was my last week. I was feeling perfectly happy but decided to get my dose of healing upliftment while I could!! I knew without looking up that Matt would be standing behind me.. In all the time I have been going he has always done my healing. its funny as its quite a girly scene and when I first started going when I came back to Nelson this year my first reaction was "ooh he's a bit of alright"! Anyway, he's an amazing healer and can take me into this really yummy meditative state which makes me feel great afterwards.. so it was a good way to leave the Lighthouse..
I managed to get through Monday and Tuesday at Founders.. now just Thursday and Friday to get through and thats it forever!!! Monday was not too bad as is was Isabellas 1st birthday and then we had one of the pregnant mums doing a ballet and tap show for us so that kept me entertained for a while,(I was a little worriwed she might topple over doing the arabesque with that tummy full of baby..) but Tuesday I was counting the minutes.. how can a day feel so long?
I had a good weekend at the backpackers, it was scorching hot which puts me in good prep for Australia (it has been really really hot for weeks now) caught up on a few phonecalls and finally got hold of Laura.. only a couple of months till theres another baby I'm not going to see! Was really nice to gossip and catch up - it was like I had never left..
Spoke to Mum, dad and Amanda as well. Had just received photos of my neices which as usual made me eyes water! I'm such a rubbish Aunty.. but hopefully they'll just think of me as this cool, exotic Aunty who lives far away!
Matt and Louise have now left and we have new managers David and Anneke who I'm hoping are just shy.. they dont seem exactly a barrel of laughs! Still its only a few days till I leave so it shouldn't matter to me!
Was my last night at Sharon and Anna's Tuesday night group last night. Was so nice, they bought this crystal for me and passed it around the circle putting positive energies in it for me for my travels which was lovely.. we also had a guest speaker in called Dawn Grace Kelly who was amazing!! she did a chakra reading on me which I felt was really accurate.. and shes not a light and fluffies person either.. shes very direct!! I wish I'd met her 6 months ago as she teaches reiki and how to do these readings and everything and I really want to do some training in all these areas... but everything happens for a reason.. maybe all that awaits me in Australia!
Its strange but I have this weird feeling that my life is only just begginning...

So all the below photos are not recent, I finally got a copy of Matt and Louises photos so have put some of them on here! They left this morning so its another ending which is weird! Phil being quite a private person will probably not be overly impressed I've put these photos on here (admit it your not are you?!) but in my defence I actually dont give out my blog address too easily and half the time its a diary for myself so remind me of the good times I have had while travelling!
These photos are my of Nelson saturday market, a photo to remind myself of my Saturday morning routine.. I shall really miss it! I should be getting less and less stuff since I am meant to be using up everything before I leave, instead I managed to buy enought fruit and veg to feed a family of 5! (ah well I can feel very virtuous having salad every night for a week!!)
The second is my carving... the carving is in photos way down on this page.. but I didnt explain it and people have complained! Basically its an angel to protect me from all that is bad, the whales tail symbolises strength and the carved koru new beginnings.
When people hear I'm off to Oz they keep bringing up this recent newspaper article saying I'm like all the others... off for my better wages and lower taxes and better work life balance apparently!! All sounds good to me.. of course I'm just leaving because my visa will be expiriring..! (But I think even if it wasnt I'm ready to explore another country.. my feet are itching!! (and thats not just that they are covered in sand fly bites!!)

Me and Amber on our Goodbye meal last night at the Lone Star Restaurant in Nelson.. small meals they arent aye!! I felt so sick at the end I thought I might throw up.. which could have been a good thing aswhen helen went her son threw up and they gave him a free T shirt!!
It was super nice to see Amber though, we chatted lots and she got up early this morning to gossip some more over brekkie and say final goodbyes! I was very good and didnt cry but now I'm wriitng this up my eyes feel a bit prickly!
I shall miss her and wish I had some time to go to Araroa lodge and see her, but she intends to trvael the world so hopefully we shall catch up in various other places! shes been instructed to come to Ozzie first!!
The church is there to remind myself of my lunch breaks at Founders Park.. I get an hour for lunch and always lay down on the grass outside this church and get out my book to read.. but end up having to set my alarm to wake myself up instead!!
Have been at Founders Park alot the last couple of weeks and will be all of next week. Have to admit I'm sick of it now.. I am officially over the whole work thing.. I need a holiday!!! and I have done my dash in childcare.. if I'd been at Tasman Street I wouldnt be saying this I'd be desperaste to go to work everyday rather than counting down the hours..but I havent so I'll moan instead!! People keep saying "Oh you'll be able to work in childcare in oz".. but in reality I'm going to avoid it as much as I can.. I want to try out other jobs..!
Anyway am knackered, its been baking hot for days and I feel cooked even now at 8:30pm! Oh god what an earth am I going to do in Oz?!!
Anyway, tomorrow is my last ever day at Tasman Street which will be emotional. Have made a fudge cake for the kids morning tea.. was in a proper cooking mood when I came home.. knocking out muffins and cakes left right and centre.. think the other backpackers wondered what was going on!! (and were hoping for some themselves.. ah well so was I!!)

Emotional goodbyes, drunken exploits.. and quite frankly I'm over work now thanks!!
So the emotional goodbyes have started already!
Jin checked in for the final (5th time) while Phil was staying last weekend. I was a tad stroppy (me?!!) at the time because it meant sharing my room (though didnt share this with poor Jin - it wasn't his fault!). Anyway, I'm probably a bit slow because Jin went all funny in the morning the next day interviewing me on who Phil was (Phil had just left, catching an early flight) and asking if Phil was my boyfriend..? (which was funny as Phil and I had just had a conversation where I wanted to define us into something and he'd complained about putting us in a box.. anyway he's not.. travelling is not particularly conducive to long term relationships) Anyway Jin got over it and stayed a few more days.. and then on his final day he got up to say goodbye to me before I went to work and take photos of us and thanking me for all our chats and all that stuff. Funny how I thought we'd really not spoken that much, I was just being friendly in the advert breaks of Shortland Street as he was an interesting guy and more interesting as I didnt have to have the same intro conversation with him already him having stayed 5 times but he was really upset at not seeing me again. Anyway, that was really sweet and nearly burst into tears myself!
I also started to make a few "last phonecalls" to people in Europe before I leave "home" (god anyone would think I'm going to deepest darkest Peru or something and that there will be no phones I Australia which is all of a couple of hours away!). Anyway, phoned Louise in Milan again which was cool, she was just going off to Rome for the weekend. I dont think the job is anything like she expected but the experience of working abroad has been amazing for her and it sounds fantastic. I really want to go to Italy now. Anyway, shes off to the UK for Christmas and then to decide whether to go back to Milan or to go somewhere else.. as she and I were discussing it is so cool to have that kind of option. We are very lucky having English passports and the language because it opens so many doors for us. I was chatting to Eva on the phone the other day and realised jobsearching and visas had been so much easier for me. Anyway it was great to chat to her as well. Will definately make it out to Holland to see her one day.
Have been trying to get hold of Laura on the phone but shes impossible to get hold of.. shes just gone on maternity leave which is pretty exciting!!
I also finally spoke to the bank after putting it off for weeks.. who were as usual throughly useless and actually said "Why are you calling us"? and when I replied "well you've sent about a zillion letters asking me to" they said "Oh well, thats just something we put in our letters as standard theres no point you calling, theres nothing we can do about your financial situation over the phone.. oh well so glad I bothered to read your letters then?!! (actually thats a lie I dont read their letters, dad has that lucky job and passes on the gist of them! Anyway, since the person at the bank said just to leave it all till I got back into the country thats what I'll do..!
Anyway, Hopefully before I leave I will have an opportunity to catch up will some more people (so dont take offence if I havent called you yet! I get access to the phone just 1 or 2 nights a week and then I have to wait around for a 13 hour time difference to be the right time to call!!) and then if your lucky like Anna I'll call in the precise middle of the rugby final!
Talking about sport.. netball.. now when I first arrived in NZ I laughed so much at kiwis for being so obsessed with it. Imagine Garen.. big tough Maori guy staying up in the night to watch netball matches.. I couldnt stop giggling to myself.. anyway... Hmnn okay somethings happened to me... it was the world championships the last couple of weeks and the excitement was building and people were inviting me over left right and centre to watch the mtatches.. and somewhere along the lines I started to take an interest! thenit got to the Quarter finals NZ versus Milawi (or was it Jamaica?).. anyway mazing match and NZ won.. then in the finals it was Aus ver NZ. Had a bad feeling as I'd rememnbered how oz had beaten NZ in some comp a few months back when I was with Garen and how he'd been in a strop.. anyway happened to be at Anna's 20th birthday bbq for the final so everyone was watching it and it was a really close match but oz won which was very disapointing..
The bbq was good though, I went with Rosie, Annas lovely but of course she and her friends are very young so I did feel a tad old but I wasnt going to let that stop me.. so proceeded to drink a fair amount of wine. this being the first time I had really drunk since a few weeks ago when I swore I would never drink again.. anyway.. we got into town Rosie being the sober driver and they deciced I wasnt wearing a revealing enough top so we went to the backpackers where I had a full room and everyone was alseep except this English girl Sam laying in bed quietly reading who practically wet herself laughing at us trying to be quiet and me being a tad tipsy.. first off of course I had to point out Mr Miyagi (remember Karate kid well the twin of the old guy in that was staying in the top bunk in my room!!) poor guy there he is fast asleep with me pointing him out and us collapsing into giggles.. then of course I had to get changed.. unfortunately Rosoe spotted my one skirt and made me try it on but I felt uncomfortable in it so we had to get it off again but of course I was trapped...so after 15 minutes of her manhandling me out of that all the while in whispered giggles we were ready (and yes if people do this to me while I'm sleeping I get really angry at them and think its really rude..) Anyway after I'd treated them all to a strip show I left them in peace (actually I exaggerate.. the 2 guys never woke up.. or at least they pretended not to)
Then we went into town and got in trouble with the police because we were drinking in the car (not the driver) and apparently town is a drink free zone.. anyway Rosie got breathalized so just as well she hadnt been drinking.. so we drove round the corner. Anna and friends being younger.. obviously drinking in town and in cars is a big thing.. or maybe a kiwi thing.. it being so expensive to drink in bars people get drunk first here. Anyway then we started going to a few bars and bumping into lots of people.. and somewhere along the lines I lost everyone but seemed to be having a good time (cant actually rememember). Then suddenly I was sitting on the loo as some (unkown?) bar when I started chundering.. couldnt concentrate enough to get off the loo and get it in the toilet so it was farily hideous.. anyway I carryied on doing that for an undeterminable amount of time and than suddenly I was in the bar again.. and then not sure what happened apart from that I got thrown out and then proceeded to throw up on the bouncer... then found myself lost and laying on a balcony somewhere laying in a pool of my own vomit (mmmnnn yummy!). Managed to pull myslef up and wander into town again and bumped into Rosie and friends who didnt seem to care or notice that I had vomited all over myself and wanted me to come clubbing. I was like no way on earth I feel disgusting so got them to direct me to Trafalgar Street where once I found that I marched myself home. Where I proceeded to get in the shower after 10 minutes I realised I was still fully clothed, so got out hugged the loo for a while puking till there was nothing left, tiptoed (!?) into my room to get towels and soap undressed and had another shower (now I have a paranoia about vomit and smelling of it so the next few days of paranoia have not been good... anyway after alot of showering I left all my vomit soaked clothes (and handbag and camera case and basically everything I owned by my bed and fell in... unfortunately the alarm went off 2 hours later.. time for work!! Oh joy!! So had another shower, put a towel over my stuff my my bed to hide it (yes I know thats disgusting) and ran to work.. it was my last ever day at Kathmandu.. and I think it can safely be said it was not my most productive.. but obviously luck was on my side.. there was a things to do list and on it was clean the bathroom... yay!! so I took along time over that job vomiting away. Unfortuntely every so often I had to serve customers.. one of which was sleeping bags.. and when i leant down I could feel the sick comeing up and had to make me excauses saying "I would just check the store room to see if the onbe she was looking for was there).. neeedless to say I ran to the loo and was sick. Oh god dream employee I am. Anyway I am now a sleeping bag expert which is good so sold her the one I just bought which at full retail is $450.. mind you cant believe how laid back some people are.. I wish i wasnt such a stresshead!! I asked her what she wanted it for etc and found out she was flying out in precisley 2 hours for 6 months backpacking south america.. so we went round the shop getting her everything she needed.. OMG!!! If I hadnt packed, let along got everything I needed I'd be having a nervous breakdown!!!
Anyway...eventually I was feeling so sorry for myself and everyone was laughing at me.. Carolyn had coated me in bite cream because I had tonnes of sandfly bites which were swelling up scarily I got sent home early, ran home to my washing.. I had been observing the very hot day and worrying about all my vomitous stuff under that towel in my hot room and all those poor backpackers that have to share my space in this apparently quiet/clean backpackers. Phil had also said he might be back on the 18th but since he didnt text I guessed I wouldnt be seeing ever again him after all, mind you probably just as well, he wouldnt want to remember me in the state..so did a huge load of washing, had another shower and went to bed... managed to wake up to eat pistachio nuts for dinner before I went back to sleep and the alarm was waking me up for work the following day... I still felt shit but mananged to get through the day and not thrown up my avacado sandwiches ($2 a bag at the market!! bargain or what!!). Made it through the day and arranged to go the the cinema with Helen since I had been meant to be going with her on Saturday and ended up partying.. then who should text at 7pm?! Phil.. he was in town for the night! He was staying at Tasman Bay backpackers so got Helen to drop me off there at 10:30pm after the film had finished (Elizabeth - really good film you should go see it!) I have made a pact with myself that next time I see Helen I am going to not talk about myself for a whole half hour because I suddenly realise she puts up with me ranting and raving about whatevers on my mind for hours on end!). Anyway, it was really good to see Phil and have our own space for once. He's been working hard but having a good time still and I'm very jealous of him touring the country and getting paid for it!! But it sounds like hard work too! I'm also glad I dont live at Tasman Bay too because it was really noisy! Made me appreciate my little home of Shortbread Cottage. Even though it did look like a lovely hostel still.. then Phil had a 5:45am flight so I went home to mine for 6am and had an hours sleep before I had to get up for work... Oh joy..! My boss had to bring me glasses on V (Energy drink) to keep me awake! I was not at my best!! and then it was my psychic group which I love so didnt want to miss that.. I would have loved to coe home from work, have a shower and go to bed, but instead it was have a shower and go out.. but it was a good group and I was given loads of postive messages about Australia. Sharon sees me being a really social person and making lots of friends who will be my friends forever which sounds great!! (as long as the socialising is without alcohol please)!
Anyway.. group doesnt finish till 10pm so I was a tad tired and nearly fell asleep in meditation.. so came home and fell into bed! Thankfully its now today and I HAve THE DAY OFFF!!!!!! yay yaya!!! Its lucky I still do as I was kinda bored on my last day off and didnt know what to do with myslef and had considered arranging to work on my next days off but had told myself not to be so sad! anyway it was a wonderful relief so had a nice sleep in.. of course I woke up at 8am feeling at must me midday surely.. but forced myself to stay in bed till 10am which was great!!! Then there was an Aussie guy staying and Louise was cleaning and in a chatty mood and they got started on taking the piss out of my for going to Bourke.. so then we got chatting about Australia and I got really excited!!!
So here I am in the library updating my blog.. Amber (and Kurt) are coming down from Araroa Lodge (in the abel tasman only accessible by boat or helicopter or a bloody long walk) for the night and staying at the backpackers to come see me and say goodbyes and they want to take me out fro drinks.. So am really looking forward to seeing them!
I went to Helens in laws for dinner the other night again!! Their so nice! Helen calls it feed a backpacker night!! Its cool! Then we went for a nice walk along the beach and I did cartwheels down the beach to put me in a better mood! (which worked! you should try it sometime.. I was telling Phil about this and was pointing out at least I wasnt naked this time.. he looked a cross between amused and (something else.. not horrifed, ( I can understand a horror reaction.. believe me bras are there for a reason...) but more of oh god.. whatever next?!) I may have conveniently missed my naked cartwheels day out of my blog... promise it was a quiet beach!! (on the North island!!)
Anyway.. needless to say I'm never drinking again... only a week and a half left in Nelson... OMG!!!!!
Jin checked in for the final (5th time) while Phil was staying last weekend. Anyway.. group doesnt finish till 10pm so I was a tad tired and nearly fell asleep in meditation.. so came home and fell into bed!
OMG!!!!!

A so tired this week dont know whats wrong with me!! had early nights Saturday, Sunday and Monday and I'm still tired.. amybe i've had too much sleep!!
Was my weekend working at the backpackers this weekennd so at least I got to chill out in the afternoons.. phoned mum and dad but was rubbish reception on the phone so was a bit tricky. I've probably dropped the phone one too many times! theres a reason why I bought the cheapest camera I could.. I am the clumsiest person ever.
Louise and Matt came in the backpackers on Friday night for a few drinks as Phill came to stay for the night. Is pretty weird as lets be honest they have barely spoken to me since he left a few weeks ago.. so I guess I knew it wasnt me they wanted to socialise with really! They leave in a couple of weeks so I shall me meeting another set of new managers before I leave! Just for a few days though as it was 3 weeks yesterday that I leave Nelson (OMG)!!!
Rosie has leant me the book "The Power of Now" which is pretty interesting reading. Some bits I agree with.. i.e living in the now.. because if we always live looking forward to things in the future we dont get to enjoy the present moment.. and then by the time we get to those things we were looking forward to in the future were busy looking forward to something else!!
However, the book also focusses on not thinking which isn't one of my strong points!! I like thinking and analysing! and the concept of not thinking and living in the now really makes me think!!
So last night was "The Lighthouse" lasy night, will only be able to go 2 more times beofre I leave.. am more gutted about Tuesday night group though, will really miss that.. so have that tonight.. think we have a professional astrologer coming for the evening which should be interesting..
anyway better go home and get ready!

The circus I went to last night was soooo COOL! i loved it far more than the kids!! I want to join a circus now! Helen did point out a didnt have a talent but thats a minor condideration!!
The trapeze acts and mens balnacing other people on the or holding them up in the air one handed was so cool! (and the half naked men were great too! - bit of gratuitous nakedness - always good! and I knew they were strong which is always good, means they may be able to pick me up wihtout collapsing under the weight - since they seem to be able to pick up about 6 men on one hand I'm hoping they wouldnt collapse anyway!)
But the finale was amazing!! I had my heart in my mouth which was wide open in amazement.. we werent allowed to take photos but I snuck one.. see the sphere of death (probably good I didnt take photos as I would have been trying to get the perfect shot and not enjoying the show)! but there were 3 motorbikers going round in this ball so fast you couldnt see them.. and then a girl got in and I was convinced she would get squished... it was amazing!!
anyway am shattered today, realise I havent had a night in for over a week, and havent seen shortland street in 2 weeks.. so its five to seven now.. so if I run I might be able to make it home in time for Shortland Street!!
